Cornus sericea - Red Twig Dogwood

Cornaceae

Location: Alpine

Description: It is often said that in landscape planting, it is best to avoid "one trick ponies" or plants which put on a good show for a week, and then get boring. The Red Twig Dogwood is not one of these plants. Four season interest make this a popular landscape plant as well as one of our prettiest natives. Lush foilage is followed by stunning fall color and then the show really starts. Bright red bark shines all winter long, often creating a vivid contrast with the snow. The flowers are white and tiny.
