Description:

Not to be confused with the commercial Blueberry, which is also in the genus Vaccinium, V. myrtillus is known as European Blueberry, however it is native to several continents, including North America. There is another related species in the Durango area, V. cespitosum, which is a big smaller and whose leaves are wider at the top (point) end. The berries are favored by bears, grouse, and plant bloggers.
